I really want to improve my English skills...
What are the rules?
Present simple
You have to follow the present simple rule when something is a fact or a habbit.
Example: The sun rises in the east.
Present continious/ present progressive
When something is happening at the moment, now.
Example: I am talking to you right now.
Past simple
When something is done in the past, it's over now. There is a focuss on the time when it happend.
Example: I saw him one hour ago.
Past continious/past progressive
when something is done in the past, it's over now. You were doing it, the focuss is on the activity.
Present perfect - have + volt dw.
The action started in the past but it still influences this moment.
Example: I have lived in Amsterdam for 5 years now.
I have been living in Amsterdam for 5 years now.
I have worked in France for 5 years.
I have been working in France for 5 years.
Past perfect
When something happend in the past and than something else happend, also in the past but not as long ago.
Example: I had talked to him, when she walked in.
I had been talking to him, when she walked in.
Always in combination with the past continious or the past simple
- Dare to be different -
